CrossFit FAQs WHAT IS CROSSFIT / CROSSFIT BASICS
CrossFit is an efficient and effective way to get into great shape. Crossfit is made up of constantly varied, functional movements (like pushups and pullups, deadlifts and squats, gymnastics, kettlebells, running, rowing, and olympic lifting), executed at high intensity in a group setting. Take a look at this YouTube video to see it in action!
We believe that everyone is able to do CrossFit. The secret is to just start doing it, not “get in shape” beforehand. CrossFit is what gets you in shape, by combining different types of fitness models and never letting your fitness become mundane. We believe in the crawl, walk, run, fly method – meaning whatever your fitness level, we will give you exactly what you need to succeed.
If you do CrossFit, you will put on lean mass and drop body fat, ,but this is NOT body building . That is another sport entirely based on muscle growth. We are CrossFit.  We are based on strength, speed, functional movements and bettering your overall life– not getting big. That does not mean you won’t gain lean muscle by any standard. Women ask this question frequently and our response is, “How many women have you seen that do CrossFit and look bulky?” Most CrossFit women are lean and muscular – i.e., healthy. Our goal is to help you become the best version of you.
There is no reason to be intimidated! We look at you as a blank page to start with. We will break everything all the way down for you and make it yours. Every long journey begins with the first step.  We pride ourselves on our individualized coaching and our ability to scale CrossFit movements to every skill level, so that athletes of all abilities will be able to successfully complete CrossFit workouts.
Gym clothes are the norm. You will get warm and you will sweat. Shirts commonly come off while in session (appropriately). We recommend lightweight clothes you would feel comfortable wearing for stretching and jumping movements. We would also recommend a proper Crossfit workout shoe, with the shoe of choice being any of the Reebok CrossFit Nano series (You’re welcome, Reebok) because they are awesome and made for CrossFit. A minimus shoe will work nice such as New Balance or Invo8 brand.  For the easy route, a Chuck Taylor will also do the job. For OLY lifting I would recommend Reebok CrossFit OLY lifter or Rogue DOWIN lifter. Head bands and tall socks will also come in handy.
We believe in Paleo and Zone diets. Both are easy to follow and achieve great results. Always eat something before and after a workout. Hydrate often and all day. For example, it is a good idea to eat a banana within the hour before class to help stabilize blood sugar (or some other example).
We recommend working out 4-5 days a week with 2-3 days of rest.  An example of a recommended schedule would be: Mon-Tue-Wed, REST THUR, Fri-Sat, REST SUN.
We have numerous acronyms in CrossFit that are commonly used.

• AMRAP-as many rounds/reps as possible
• Chipper- long workout you chip away at
• HSPU- handstand push-up
• EMOM- every min on the min
• BOX- the gym
